ECOSYSTEMS

The protection of the ecosystems (aquatic, terrestrial and hybrid) is essential to the health of the planet and its inhabitants. The current overuse of the ecosystems not only creates great environmental damage, and the loss of biodiversity, but also, and as a consequence of the previous, social and economic imbalances that the Law should help avoid or correct, to achieve sustainable development.

ICEL is currently participating in the international negotiation of the marine biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction treaty (BBNJ) and the Global Pact for the Environment. Also, ICEL’s Secretariat, located in Carlos III de Madrid University (Spain), is linked to the Pascual Madoz Institute of Spatial Planing, Urbanism and the Environment, which is specialized in territory governance.
